LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of California San Diego softball team concludes the 2019 season at seventh with 308 points in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The poll was released on Wednesday morning and is voted on by 16 head coaches, with two representing each of the eight regions.

The ranking is the Tritons’ highest of the 2019 season, topping their previous eighth-place ranking in the poll on April 3. The seventh slot is also UC San Diego’s best since the 2013 NFCA Preseason Poll, when the Tritons captured second place with 382 points.

All of the top eight spots in the final poll went to each region’s champions. This season, UC San Diego claimed its first West Region title since 2012. The Tritons earned the honor after knocking off top-seeded Concordia Irvine in a best-of-three series at the West Super Regional.

Prior to that, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Regular Season Champions UC San Diego played host to the NCAA Division II West 2 Regional. Despite a loss to Chico State, the Tritons won three consecutive games to advance to the Super Regional.
