UCSD Finishes Ninth, Navigato Ties for 19th at Hanny Stanislaus Invite

TURLOCK, Calif. - The University of California San Diego men's golf team placed ninth as the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational wrapped up Tuesday at the Turlock Golf & Country Club.

UC San Diego totaled a 911 (+47) over three rounds, carding a 309 Tuesday to go along with a 304 and a 298 on Monday.

The Tritons' top individual was freshman Adam Navigato (Solana Beach/Torrey Pines HS), who tied for 19th with a 222, 6-over par on the par 72, 6,641-yard course. Navigato went 76-75-71, improving from his 43rd position after Monday's two rounds.

Navigato has been UCSD's best finisher in four of the team's eight tournaments this season.

Also competing for the Tritons were senior Drew Robbins (T-34th, 75-73-79--227), freshman Hayden Hui (T-46th, 75-74-81--230), junior Mateusz Kucz (T-53rd, 79-76-78--233) and freshman James Kressinger-Dunn (T-75th, 78-80-87--245).

Sonoma State topped the 15-team field with an 11-over 875. Chico State and Concordia Portland tied for second place, each totaling an 876 (+12), just a single stroke behind Sonoma. Dominican (879) and Holy Names (882) rounded out the top five.

Chico's Colby Dean held his lead to best the 83-player contingent with a 208, 8-under par. Matt Thomas (-3, 213) of Holy Names was second and Cal State Monterey Bay's Elis Svard (even, 216) finished third.

Up next, UC San Diego competes at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, April 24-26 at Industry Hills in the City of Industry outside of Los Angeles. Last season, the Tritons tied for eighth of nine teams.
