SANTEE, Calif. - The University of California San Diego men's golf team, serving as host of the 68th SoCal Intercollegiate, placed 10th and Hayden Hui tied for 17th as the tournament wrapped up Tuesday at Carlton Oaks Golf Club.

UC San Diego finished with a 920, 56-over par. The Tritons carded a 303 in Tuesday's third and final round, their lowest score of the tourney. They shot 305-312 over Monday's two rounds and were also in 10th at the end of the day.

Hui went 76-76-72 for a +8 224. He finished with 39 pars, tied for the second-most of any golfer. It was the sophomore's fourth top-20 placing this season.

Dominican won for the first time in program history, topping the 11-team field with an 871, 7-over par. The Penguins shot 284-296-291, with their first round score the only under-par team total of the tournament. In fact, it was the lone sub-290 performance. Dominican led after all three rounds.

Dixie State (882, +18), the 2017 SoCal Intercollegiate winner, finished second, 11 strokes behind Dominican. Cal State East Bay (885, +21) was third. The Pioneers had the top round of Tuesday, shooting a 290 to lift them from fifth into third.

Dominican also produced the individual champion in Ty Macias. He finished with an 11-under 205, eight strokes in front of his nearest competitor. Macias opened with a 71 and followed with a 66 and a 68. The 66 was the low round of the tourney.

All five Penguins placed in the top-35, with three finishing among the top-20.

Greg Smith (213, -3) of Cal State East Bay finished second and Michael Jura (215, -1) of Stanislaus State placed third in the 60-competitor field.

The next three finishers shot even par with everyone else coming in over par.

Also playing for UC San Diego were sophomore Adam Navigato (Solana Beach/Torrey Pines HS) (t-29th, 77-79-72--228), freshman Ryan Vaughan (t-51st, 74-82-80--236), sophomore Jacob Johnson (t-51st, 78-77-81--236), and sophomore Justin Woo (San Diego/Torrey Pines HS) (t-55th, 78-80-79--237).

The Tritons also had three golfers competing as individuals including senior Mateusz Kucz (t-29th, 75-79-74--228), sophomore Connell Kilpatrick (57th, 78-82-82--242) and junior Joel Wermter (58th, 84-84-82--250).

The par-72, 6,834-yard Carlton Oaks course played to a 76.09 score average.

Next week, UC San Diego travels north to compete in the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, April 2-3 at Turlock Country Club. It is the final tune-up for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships.
