Tritons Tied for Sixth After Two Rounds at WWU Invitational

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The University of California San Diego men's golf team opened its season Monday at the Western Washington Invitational at Bellingham Golf & Country Club. Following two rounds of play, the Tritons are tied for sixth in the 18 team field.

UC San Diego was in first place following the opening round with a 287, but fell five spots after shooting a 295 in round two.

Sergi Mata De La Barata Barcons is the top Triton, sitting in a tie for 10th place of 102 golfers. The sophomore is 1 under with a 143 after firing rounds of 71 and 72 on the par 72, 6,561 yard layout.

Jared Gross, also a sophomore, moved up 19 spots in the standings and is currently tied for 24th. He opened with a 75 and followed with a 70 for two-round total of 145 (+1).

The third and final round gets underway Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Round three pairings can be found here.
