Triton Mania is Back!
LA JOLLA, Calif.– The UC San Diego Tritons look forward to welcoming all new students to campus during Welcome Week at the annual Triton Mania kickoff event Tuesday after convocation in RIMAC Arena.
A centerpiece event for the annual Welcome Week festivities, Triton Mania marks the official introduction for new students to learn traditions, meet the mascot, cheerleaders, dance team and Triton scholar-athletes. The program features live performances, giveaways, prizes, interactive contests, a live DJ and other fun and exciting events.
Students will have a chance to win prizes such as Apple AirPods, HomePods, iPads and an Apple TV. Other prizes include JBL speakers, Hydro Flasks, Beats headphones, Fitbits and more.
Doors open at 12:15 p.m. with the event set to start at 1 p.m. students will be greeted by the pep band and members of the cheer team. The first 2500 attendees will receive a coupon for a free Triton Tide t-shirt, which can be picked up at the Triton Tide tent at the Student Services Festival on Ridge Walk after Triton Mania. Triton Tide is the official student spirit group for Triton athletics.
After the event, those attending will be treated to a special dessert treat outside RIMAC Arena.
For visitors to campus, be aware of road closures and delays on Hopkins Drive throughout the morning from Voigt Drive to North Point Lane.
One of the most successful athletic programs in the nation, UC San Diego enters its final year of competition as a member of NCAA Division II. The Tritons will transition to Division I competition as a member of the Big West Conference beginning in fall 2020. UC San Diego finished second in the annual Learfield IMG College Director’s Cup in 2018-19 and earned the program’s eighth conference Commissioner’s Cup award as the top athletic program in the California Collegaite Athletic Assocaition.
