Triton Athletics To Feature On Fox Sports San Diego
LA JOLLA, Calif. -- UC San Diego’s transition to NCAA Division I athletics is the topic of a special feature story this week that will air on Fox Sports San Diego’s popular Inside San Diego Sports.
Host Mike Pomeranz recently conducted interviews with Tritons athletic director Earl Edwards, men’s basketball head coach Eric Olen and softball head coach Patti Gerckens on a variety of topics related to the highly-successful program’s decision to move to the NCAA’s highest level of competition. The interviews were conducted during RIMAC Arena’s recent renovation, which made its debut yesterday at the student-focused Triton Mania and a special all student-athlete welcome back event.
Inside San Diego Sports will be televised several times during the week with its debut tonight at 10:30 p.m., following the San Diego Padres’ contest against San Francisco. Other showings are scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.; Thursday at 9:30 p.m. and Friday at 3:30 p.m. The story should be available online following Friday's final showing.
“We appreciate Fox Sports San Diego’s coverage of Triton athletics and, in particular, the program’s transition to NCAA Division I athletics and the Big West Conference,” said Edwards. “We are looking forward to expanding our relationships throughout the community and telling the great stories about our student-athletes in competition, in the classroom and beyond.”
