WWPA Tournament Returns to La Jolla


LA JOLLA, Calif. - For the first time since 2011, the University of California San Diego will host the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championship. The three-day tournament will be held at Canyonview Aquatic Center November 17-19.

UC San Diego concluded its regular season with a 9-13 overall record and finished 6-1 in the conference. The Tritons earned the second-seed and will play seventh-seed Santa Clara (7-14, 2-5) in the first round of the tournament.

The three-day tournament features four games a day, each team is guaranteed to play three games, one each day. The medal rounds and championship game are slated for Sunday, November 19. The tournament champions will earn the WWPA’s automatic NCAA Championship bid. The All-Tournament team and awards presentation will take place following the conclusion of the championship game.

UC Davis enters the tournament as the top-seed after finishing undefeated in the WWPA with a 7-0 record.

Single-day tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children for each day of the competition and will be available for purchase at the gate only one hour prior to the start of the first game.

A free live stream will be provided at and live stats are available through for all games. Parking is free on weekends, but permits are required on the UC San Diego campus all day on Friday, Nov. 17. Permit machines are located in every lot.

Game 9: Loser G5 vs. Loser G6 (7th Place) - 8:00 a.m.
Game 10: Winner G5 vs. Winner G6 (5th Place) - 9:40 a.m.
Game 11: Loser G7 vs. Loser G8 (3rd Place) - 11:20 a.m.
Game 12: Winner G7 vs. Winner G8 (1st Place) - 1:00 p.m.
