SAN DIEGO - University of California San Diego women's volleyball standout Amanda Colla (Carlsbad/San Dieguito Academy) has been named a San Diego Hall of Champions (SDHOC) Star of the Month. The SDHOC announced its September honorees Tuesday.
Colla was instrumental in leading UC San Diego to a 10-3 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the month.
The senior outside hitter averaged 4.1 points, 3.5 kills, 4.2 digs, and 0.3 service aces per set - all team-bests. Colla recorded a double-double in nine of 13 matches and totaled at least 10 digs in 12 contests. She established a new career-high with 22.0 points against Concordia Irvine and equaled a career-best with 19 kills vs. Concordia Portland.
Colla, a Carlsbad native, was named to the all-tournament team at both tourneys that the Tritons played in - Point Loma’s Seaside Invitational and Central Washington’s D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase.
It is the first career Star of the Month honor for Colla.
UC San Diego hosts league rival Cal State LA tonight at RIMAC Arena (7 p.m.). UCSD students are admitted free.
