Following Delay, Tritons Will Start Season Friday in Hawai'i
HILO, Hawai'i - Following a postponement due to Hurricane Lane, the First Hawaiian Bank Volleyball Challenge, hosted by Hawai'i Hilo on the Big Island, will get underway Thursday evening.
Originally slated to begin Thursday morning, the tournament was delayed after state agencies closed the Hilo campus Wednesday and most of Thursday as the storm approached Hawai'i. As of 2:30 p.m. PT Thursday, Hurricane Lane had passed the Big Island.
UC San Diego will now open its 2018 season against Hawai'i Pacific on Friday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. PT. The Tritons then take on Hawai'i Hilo at 10:30 p.m. PT Friday.
On Saturday, Aug. 25, UC San Diego plays Chaminade at 5:30 p.m. PT and Saint Martin's at 10:30 p.m. PT.
The Tritons arrived in Hawai'i Wednesday.
