LA JOLLA, Calif. - Jessica Rieble of the University of California San Diego women's volleyball team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week as the conference named its selections Tuesday.

A senior middle blocker, Rieble helped lead UC San Diego to a tournament best 4-0 record at the six team West Region Showcase in La Jolla.

Over the four matches at RIMAC Arena, Rieble hit .440 while averaging 3.7 points, 2.7 kills, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 digs per set. Her hitting percentage and blocking average ranked second among all tourney players.

Rieble totaled 16 points against Concordia University Irvine and 10.5 points vs. Saint Martin's, both match highs. Nine of her 20 blocks came against Concordia with that total just one short of her career high.

The Pleasanton, Calif., native was named to the all-tournament team for her outstanding performances.

UC San Diego posted victories over Saint Martin's, Montana State Billings, Concordia, and Academy of Art.

It was the first weekly conference honor of Rieble's career.

"Jessica has improved dramatically every year since she joined the program," said UC San Diego head coach Ricci Luyties. "It's great to see all of her hard work paying off and it's outstanding that she's being recognized for it."

The Tritons (6-2) begin their conference schedule this week, playing at Cal State East Bay on Sept. 20 and at San Francisco State on Sept. 21.
