The Honolulu, Hawai’i product posted a career-high seven goals in a 15-12 overtime upset over No. 10 Pacific. She tallied two assists in UC San Diego’s narrow, 8-5, loss to no. 5 Hawai’i and capped the weekend with one goal against No. 3 UCLA. She received the honor twice last season (for the weeks of Jan. 18-24 and Feb. 8-14).

Brad Kreutzkamp, the 2016 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) NCAA Division II Co-Coach of the year, enters his eighth season at the helm when the women’s water polo team begins its 2017 season this weekend at the UCSB Winter Invitational. The Tritons, ranked No. 11 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) poll, are coming off a 28-11 season and their fifth Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) title in six years. UCSD also made its fifth overall appearance at the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship, finishing in sixth place to match its best showing in school history (2013). UC San Diego’s 28-win season also equaled the most victories in program-history (1994).

The 2017 Triton roster boasts 16 returners including two All-Americans and several All-WWPA honorees. Two-meter defender Alexis Wieseler returns for her final season as a two-time All-American, three-time All-WWPA and NCAA Championship All-Tournament selection. Last season, Wieseler led the team in goals (84) and steals (72).

UCSD also returns All-American center Lauren Boyer who tallied 57 goals, 10 assists and 29 steals on the season. All-WWPA honoree Lani Tittle returns after finishing with a team-high 22 field blocks. She also amassed 17 goals, 24 assists and 40 steals. Chanel Schilling, the WWPA Newcomer of the Year, will return after a successful campaign with 29 goals, seven assists and 16 steals.

The Tritons have big shoes to fill after graduating four-time All-American goalkeeper, Courtney Miller. She made her mark in the record books as the school's career leader in saves (1,465). In 2016, she tallied 334 saves, 42 assists and 28 steals.

The Tritons also lost key players in All-American Laurel Kistler (60 goals, 48 assists, 58 steals) and Julia Kirkland (40 goals, 28 assists, 17 steals).

UCSD head coach Brad Kreutzkamp enters his eighth season at the helm. He has led the Tritons to five WWPA championships and five NCAA Championship appearances in his seven seasons. The Tritons are 157-113 (.581) overall during his tenure. Last season, Kreutzkamp’s team captured its fourth-straight WWPA title and fifth in six years with a 9-5 victory over Cal State East Bay. UCSD made its fifth NCAA appearance and matched a program-best, sixth-place finish. The Tritons recorded 28 wins, matching the team's most (1994). Kreutzkamp came to UCSD as an assistant coach with the women’s team in 1999 before joining longtime head coach Denny Harper on the men’s staff the following season. Prior to his arrival on the La Jolla campus, Kreutzkamp was the head coach of both the boy's and girl’s varsity programs at Grossmont High School from 1996-99.

Entering the 2017 season, Alexis Wieseler sits third on the all-time list for career goals with 231 and attempts (584) ... Wieseler is currently fifth all-time in steals (186) ... In single-season goals, Wieseler is sixth with 84 in 2016 ... In goal, Carlee Kapana has played in 7.59 games and holds a 2.77 goals against average. She has tallied 77 saves and has only allowed 21 goals. Brandon Brooks is in his eighth season as the Bruins head coach.

UCLA holds a commanding 5-27 lead over UCSD in the all-time series. The two teams met at last month's UCSB Winter Inviational on Jan. 22 where the Tritons suffered a 17-2 loss. Alexis Wieseler and Lauren Boyer each recorded a goal in the defeat.
