OAKLAND, Calif. - The No. 12 University of California San Diego women’s water polo team had seven standouts earn All-Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Junior center Chanel Schilling, junior attacker Krista Schneider and sophomore goalkeeper Reilly Gallagher were each named All-WWPA First Team, while freshman utility Taylor Onstott (Carlsbad/Carlsbad HS) earned WWPA Newcomer of the Year accolades.

In addition, Onstott and senior Kayla Fedler each landed on the All-WWPA Second Team, freshman attacker Grace Pevehouse received All-WWPA honorable mention, and Onstott joined center Ciara Franke (San Diego/La Jolla HS) on the WWPA All-Freshman Team.

Schilling has tallied 30 points this season from 26 goals and four assists, despite missing four games, and leads the team with 36 exclusions drawn. Schneider has recorded a team-high 40 assists to go along with 14 goals. She is third on the team with 54 total points.

Gallagher has started a team-best 22 contests in the cage, posting 131 saves with a .528 save percentage en route to a 14-6 record.

Fedler, one of only two Triton seniors and a captain, leads the team with 56 total points this season on 43 goals and 13 assists. Onstott is right behind in second with 55 points from 37 goals and 18 assists, while Pevehouse’s 53 total points (37 goals, 16 assists) rank fourth on the squad.

Franke closed the regular season with 34 points on 27 goals and seven assists, and leads the Tritons with 60 steals despite missing three games due to swimming and diving obligations.

The freshman trio of Onstott, Pevehouse and Franke each earned WWPA Player of the Week honors earlier this season.

UC San Diego (21-11, 4-0 WWPA) earned the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s WWPA Championship, and as the host, will attempt to win the conference tournament for the sixth consecutive season.

The Tritons face No. 8-seeded McKendree in a first-round matchup on Friday, April 27, beginning at 11 a.m. at Canyonview Aquatic Center.
