Grace Pevehouse Named WWPA Player of the Week
OAKLAND — University of California San Diego women’s water polo sophomore Grace Pevehouse has been named Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
It’s the first-career weekly honor for Pevehouse, as she becomes the third Triton this season to earn player of the week accolades.
A native of Tustin, Calif., Pevehouse scored a team-best 10 goals while appearing in four of five games played over the weekend, lifting the Tritons to a 4-1 record.
The sophomore matched a career-high with five goals along with a steal in a victory over No. 20 CSUN to begin play at San Diego State’s Aztec Invitational on Saturday and followed it up with a two-goal performance in a win against Azusa Pacific later in the afternoon.
Pevehouse capped off the weekend by recording a hat trick with three goals in a victory over No. 24 Bucknell on Sunday.
This season, Pevehouse leads the Tritons with 39 goals and 49 total points.
UC San Diego 11-12 has a couple weeks off before it resumes action with a double-header against Brown and California Baptist on March 30 in Riverside, Calif.
