LA JOLLA, CALIF. – The University of California San Diego women’s water polo team and Head Coach Brad Kreutzkamp announces the promotion of Nicki Davidson to Associate Head Coach.

“I am delighted to elevate Nicki to associate head coach as she has been beyond valuable to our program since she joined us,” lauded Kreutzkamp. “Her love of this team, and all things UCSD will continue to help us grow as we take the next step in this program’s future heading into the Big West.”

Davidson enters her third season with the Tritons. During her tenure with UC San Diego, she has been a part of back-to-back 20+ win seasons, back-to-back Western Water Polo Association Championships and two berths in the NCAA tournament.

Prior to her arrival to La Jolla, Davidson coached the La Cañada High School girl's water polo team from 2016-17 where she was named the Stars News Coach of the Year. Previously, Davidson spent two seasons as the head coach of the Cathedral Catholic High School girl's water polo program and oversaw the San Diego Shores 16 and under girl's team. She is currently in her fifth year as a USA Water Polo Development National Team assistant coach.

Collegiately, Davidson played for Pat Beemer at Wagner College for four years. She helped lead the Seahawks to a NCAA appearance in 2006 and was also a three-year member of the swim team.

UC San Diego (22-14) is coming off its seventh-consecutive WWPA Championship en route to advancing to the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship Quarterfinals. The Tritons will compete in their first season as a member of the Big West Conference in the spring of 2020.
