Matt Macedo is entering his second year as an assistant coach for the UCSD Swimming and Diving squad. Macedo started his coaching career in 2004, joining North Coast Aquatics in San Diego as senior assistant and senior development coach at the La Jolla J.C.C. In addition, Macedo was hired in 2005 to co-coach the Carlsbad age group program. In 2007, he joined The Race Club in Florida as head assistant coach, with duties that included coaching the World team, which is composed of numerous past and current Olympians. Macedo also coached at the Beijing Olympics.

Macedo, from San Jose, had an accomplished career in Pacific swimming. Macedo went on to Cal where he was a 20-time All-American and graduated with a degree in Public Policy/Public Health. He was a two-time NCAA champion at Cal and member of the U.S.A. National Swimming Team. Matt represented the U.S. at the 2001 World University Games and was a finalist in the 50 free at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials.
