Release: Saturday 05/28/2016

BRADENTON, Fla. - UC San Diego concluded the 2016 NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships with three Tritons in competition, Saturday at IMG Academy Stadium.

Junior Savanna Forry tied for 11th place in the high jump with a mark of 5’5.75”. She earns All-America Second Team honors with the performance. Forry got over the opening height of 5’4.5” in one attempt and needed three tries to clear 5’5.75”. She could not pass the next height of 5’7” in three tries. Forry is now a two-time All-American after she tied for 11th at last year’s national meet with a 5’5” effort.

Redshirt senior Anthony Capitulo finished 17th in the javelin with a throw of 194’1”, on his second attempt. He recorded a mark of 183’9” on his first try and fouled on his third. Capitulo returned to nationals after he redshirted last year, an injury having derailed his season. He placed 17th at the 2014 NCAA Championships with a 192’6” distance.

Redshirt junior Dan Golubovic tied for 15th in the pole vault with no height recorded. He could not clear the opening height of 15’10” in three attempts, coming off a grueling All-American performance in the decathlon on Thursday and Friday.
