SAN RAMON, Calif. - University of California San Diego sophomore track and field athlete Chelsea Challacombe was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, as the conference announced Tuesday.

Challacombe, who earns this honor for the first time in her career, took second in the heptathlon with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 4699 points at the 40th Annual Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State.

Challacombe, who competed on Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23, moved into third all-time at UC San Diego in the event with her final point total behind only UCSD greats Stephanie LeFever (5385), the 2011 national runner-up, and Linda Rainwater (5333), the 2008 national champion.

The Los Alamo, N.M. native finished in the top three in five of the seven events over the course of the two days, taking second in the high jump (season-best 5'5") and third in the 100-meter hurdles (personal-record 15.09), shot put (34'9.5"), long jump (17'4") and 800 meter (2:25.98).

The UC San Diego track and field teams return to action on Saturday, March 31, when they host the likes of Wisconsin and USC for the California Collegiate Open.
