BOSTON, Mass. -The UC San Diego fencing team finished 17th in the nation, as Michael Fong finished 19th in men's foil. Fong, UCSD's final competitor, scored nine victories at nationals. Earlier in the week, Pilar Alicea finished 19th in women's foil with seven victories. Victoria Mo finished in 19th in women's epee with six victories. Penn State won the national title with 191 points, followed by St John's at No. 2 with 182 points. Rounding out the top five was Notre Dame, Ohio State and Harvard.

Daryl Homer of St. John's won the men's saber competition while Gerek Meinhardt of Notre Dame won the men's foil competition. In men's epee, Marat Israelian of St. John's won the title, defeating Peter French of Air Force.

On the women's side, Alicea won four times during day two and picked up seven victories total in the women's foil field. The senior completed her collegiate career with 74 touches during the competition. Nicole Ross of Columbia/Barnard was the NCAA Champion in the field.

Mo added two wins to her day one total of four, finishing with six in women's epee. Mo finished her freshman season with 77 touches at the NCAA championships, with Penn State's Margherita Guzzi Vincenti emerging as national champ.
