FULLERTON, Calif. - The No. 17 UC San Diego women's tennis team earned two singles wins on the road Wednesday, but it wasn't enough to top Division I opponent Cal State Fullerton as the Tritons fell, 5-2, at the Titan Tennis Courts.

Fullerton went 4-2 in singles play and won two of three doubles matches. It was the first match of the season for UCSD and the first win of the season for the Titans as they evened their record at 1-1.

Tritons Katie Mulloy and Samantha Yeung captured the sole doubles win for their side, defeating CSF's Jessica Pepa and Avriel Tomaiko, 8-4, in the No. 3 spot.

Cal State Fullerton swept the top four singles positions in commanding fashion, but fell short deep in the lineup. UCSD's Tara Vanooteghem defeated Pepa (6-2, 6-3) at No. 5 and Krystal Mizuguchi also notched a win, topping Tomaiko (4-6, 6-3, 10-4) at the No. 6 position.

UCSD will return to action this Saturday at noon at Azusa Pacific.
