WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UC San Diego tied for a conference high with six players being named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Conference softball team that was announced on Wednesday.

Senior pitcher Camille Gaito, senior center fielder Kris Lesovsky and sophomore designated player/catcher Charly Swanberg were all named to the 2012 All-CCAA First Team as the Tritons matched Cal State Monterey Bay for the most first-team selections. Sophomore catcher Caitlin Brown was named All-CCAA Second Team while sophomore outfielder Kirsten Willmon and sophomore shortstop Mya Romero garnered All-CCAA Honorable Mention honors.

Chico State also had six all-conference selections. Hailey Stockman of CSUC was named the CCAA's Most Valuable Player and Sonoma State's Samantha Lipperd won Most Valuable Pitcher, an honor previously held twice by Gaito. Jim Maier of Cal State Dominguez Hills was named the CCAA Coach of the Year after leading the Toros to a share of the CCAA's regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in this weekend's conference tournament.

Gaito, UCSD's all-time leader in career wins and strikeouts, has had a solid season for the Tritons, going 20-8 with a 1.35 overall ERA. She's limited opponents to a .207 batting average in 33 appearances and has given up just 41 runs in 181 total innings- second most in the CCAA. Gaito earned first-team honors for the third consecutive year.

Lesovsky, a four-time All-CCAA First Team awardee, leads the Tritons in batting average, runs, hits, doubles and home runs in 2012. She currently ranks in the CCAA's top 10 in hits and stolen bases and is 11th with a .376 batting average. She will leave UCSD as the all-time leader in average, doubles, walks and runs scored.

Swanberg, a first-time all-conference selection, has registered a breakout season thus far for the Tritons. She's driven in 33 runs while hitting .341, both second-best on the squad. She hit .727 in March 16-17's series sweep of Humboldt State, going 8-for-11 with six RBIs. Also, she's tallied 199 putouts, nine assists and a .977 fielding percentage behind the plate.

Brown is tied for the team-lead with five home runs on the season and has appeared as a catcher, designated player, third baseman, first baseman and right fielder for the Tritons this year. Despite the changing of positions, Brown's .988 fielding percentage is a team-best for everyday field players. She's third on the team with a .336 average and has registered 26 walks, tied for sixth in UCSD single-season history.

Romero, the 2011 CCAA Freshman of the Year, is a second-time All-CCAA honoree. She holds a team-high 37 RBI this season and is tied with Brown with 26 walks. Romero has tallied 12 extra-base hits - nine doubles, two home runs and a triple.

Willmon, a first-time All-CCAA selection, leads all Tritons with 20 stolen bases on the season, third-most in the conference. She's scored 29 times this season while batting .274 in the second slot in the batting order. She leads the team with two triples this year.

The Tritons earned the fourth seed for the CCAA Championships and will face top-seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
