LA JOLLA, Calif. - The fifth-ranked UC San Diego women's soccer team battled through overtime, but suffered its first loss of the season Sunday, a 1-0 heartbreaker against league opponent Cal State San Bernardino at Triton Soccer Field.

The Coyotes scored in the 97th minute to improve to 5-3-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Tritons are now at 7-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the CCAA, keeping their grip on first place in the league's South Division.

CSUSB's Jani Carmona-Urbano collected a free kick from Michelle Bagheri in front of the net and headed in the game-winner at 97:46.

"Teams are coming out and pressuring us and we are not handling the pressure," said head coach Brian McManus.

UC San Diego had an opportunity to finish the game in regulation with a corner kick in the last minute, but failed to connect.

Triton keeper Kelcie Brodsky finished with three saves.

The match marked the halfway point of the conference schedule for the Tritons.

"We've got a whole eight games to go and a whole new season to play through," said McManus. "They need to all step up, every single player. Not just the starting players, but players on the bench."

Next up, UC San Diego will travel to Northern California for it's first set of games against North Division opponents. The Tritons first visit Sonoma State, the current North Division leader, Friday and complete the weekend at Humboldt State Sunday.
