KANSAS CITY, Mo. - UC San Diego juniors Alec Arsht and Josh Cohen have been chosen to the 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-America Second Team.

The duo make up the first Triton All-Americans in men's soccer since Jared Kukura in 2010. Kukura had also made the second team.

Arsht and Cohen had recently gained selection to the Daktronics All-West Region First Team, advancing them to the All-America ballot. This is the first All-America honor for both players, and the first time that UCSD has had multiple All-America honorees in the same season since Matthew Davey and Jonathan Shum both made the first team in 2003.

Arsht, out of Oak Park, and Cohen, from Sunnyvale, anchored a defense that ranks No. 2 in the nation in Division II in goals-against average (0.44) and first in shutout percentage (0.71). The Tritons posted 12 shutouts among their 17 games, and set the new California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) single-season record for goals-against average.

Cohen, the 2012 CCAA Most Valuable Defensive Player and a second-team All-CCAA honoree as UCSD's goalkeeper, is still the national leader in individual goals-against average (0.397) and save percentage (.898). He posted seven shutouts while making 44 saves, allowing just five goals in 13 matches (1134:23 minutes).

Arsht, an All-CCAA First Team pick, started 14 of 16 matches at center back. This is a second straight Daktronics All-West Region honor for Arsht, who was chosen to the second team in 2011.

UCSD completed the 2012 season at 9-4-4 overall, posting a third straight winning campaign in first-time CCAA Coach of the Year Jon Pascale's fifth season at the helm.
