LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC San Diego men’s volleyball team put on a clinic for the Big Brother Big Sister Program of San Diego County on November 22.  UCSD men’s volleyball players took part in demonstrating the skills, coaching and participating with the Bigs and Littles.  A total of 11 bigs and 11 littles showed up for the clinic.

It was run like a one-day camp.  Skills covered included passing, serving, attacking and defense.  Near the end of the clinic, the UCSD student-athletes participated in games with the Bigs and Littles.

“I have always admired the Big Brother Big Sister program and felt that the men’s volleyball program here at UCSD could help support their efforts by providing a fun clinic,” head coach Kevin Ring said.  “The clinic worked really well, as the Bigs, the Littles, and the men’s volleyball student-athletes all had a great day.  The student-athletes really handled themselves well and showed themselves to be good role models.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States. They have been the leader in one-to-one youth service for more than a century, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people.
