DAVIS, Calif. ? The 5th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team picked up two Western Water Polo Association victories on Saturday afternoon at the Aggie Shootout. UCSD defeated No. 17 Air Force by a 12-4 margin. The Tritons then defeated No. 16 Santa Clara 12-7. UCSD improves to 21-5 on the season and has a week off before its next match. UCSD is back in action on November 8, its final home game of the season. The Tritons take on UC Irvine at 6:00 p.m. in Canyonview Pool. UCSD will honor its five seniors in a Senior Night Ceremony before the game.
In the win over Air Force, UCSD led 6-3 after three quarters and outscored the Falcons 6-1 in the final quarter to close out the 12-4 win. Daniel Garcia scored four times for the Tritons, while A.J. Kotanjian added three scores. Curtis Williamson added two goals, while Jesse Casellini, Adnan Jerkovic and Ty Lackey also added goals.
UCSD kept the pressure on Santa Clara with 11 goals in the first three periods, taking an 11-6 lead into the final quarter, winning 12-7. Lackey scored four times while Williamson and Kotanjian scored two apiece. Jerkovic, Ben Miller, Joe Woodring and Ian Bausback also scored for UCSD.
