WEEKLY AWARDS x 2
UC San Diego had two players honored by the Big West Conference Monday as Wyatt Harrison was named Player of the Week and Ryan Lew was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Named to the Lindenwood Invitational All-Tournament Team, Harrison averaged 4.4 points and 3.9 kills per set while hitting .356. He established new career highs with 27 kills and 31 points against McKendree. The 27 kills were the most by a Triton in a single match since 2018. He hit .553 and added three service aces (which tied a career best), three digs, and two blocks versus the Bearcats. Against Lindenwood, Harrison totaled 14 kills and in a sweep of Quincy, he led all players with nine kills. It is the first Big West Player of the Week honor for Harrison, who was also selected as the Off the Block National Outside Hitter of the Week Monday. In 2018, he was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team and won the conference's Freshman of the Week award in early March. He is the second conference player of the week from UC San Diego this season as Kyle McCauley got the call on Jan. 13.
Lew, the Tritons' primary libero, averaged 2.6 digs per set in Missouri. The senior amassed a match high 16 digs against McKendree, the third highest total of his career. Lew also logged a co-team high 12 digs versus Lindenwood. Lew also won the award in February of 2019. Â
