Men’s Tennis Drops Match to Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The first of two road matches to finish out the regular season ended in a 4-0 defeat on Sunday for UC San Diego men's tennis. Sacramento State won the doubles point and singles matches No. 1, 2 and 4 to take the victory.

The Tritons got a win in doubles from Carson Lee and Diogo Tinoco. The visitors also won the first set in all three singles matches that went unfinished.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sacramento State won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles before the next two contests were decided late by 7-5 margins. Lee and Tinoco evened the race for the doubles point with their win on court two, but Sacramento State pulled away on court three to go up 1-0 in the dual match.

The three singles matches that the Hornets won were in all straight sets, with four of the six sets being one-break margins as the Tritons stayed within range but were unable to get over the hump. Courts two and four wrapped first, followed by Lee falling 4-6, 3-6 at No. 1 as Sacramento State clinched the dual match.

The Tritons were playing well in the three other matches that were subsequently abandoned. Pelayo Rodriguez (No. 3) and Charles Qian (No. 6) were both on serve in their second sets after winning set one. David Adamson (No. 5) won his first frame by a tight 7-5 scoreline.
