LA JOLLA, Calif. — After a three-match road trip to start the season, UC San Diego men's soccer will play at home for the first on Thursday. The match with Houston Christian begins at 7:00 p.m. from Triton Soccer Stadium.
 
Admission to all home matches is free, but parking permits are required seven days per week on the UC San Diego campus. Fans can also catch the action on ESPN+ with David Gentile on the call.

In addition to being the Tritons' home opener, Thursday's match is also First Responders Night.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tritons are coming off a 1-1 draw on the road at No. 17 Cal. Defender Evan Wellerstein scored the equalizer in the 73rd minute after Cal scored just before halftime. Goalkeeper Nolan Premack made eight saves in the match.

CLASSROOM SUCCESS
Two Tritons earned accolades for their hard work both in the classroom and on the pitch in 2024. Senior Jonah Kawamura and redshirt freshman Quinn Sellers were named to the Academic All-District Team as announced by College Sports Communications (CSC). Sellers is back with the Tritons in 2025 for his redshirt sophomore season.
 
THREE TRITONS CAPTURE BIG WEST HONORS IN 2024
Three UC San Diego scholar-athletes were honored by The Big West in 2024 as the conference announced its men's soccer postseason awards. Senior Max Carvalho earned his third Big West nod as he was named to the All-Conference Second Team. Freshmen Kai Oppenheim and Quinn Sellers were named to the All-Freshman Team, and both return for the Tritons in 2025.
 
10 FRESHMEN JOIN THE SQUAD
UC San Diego men's soccer head coach Jon Pascale has announced the addition of ten newcomers who will join the Tritons' roster for the 2025 season: Gavin Allegaert, Adam Dunbar, Masa Fujita, Gary Green, Ian Mai, Liam Murdin, Jack Nishimoto, Sagar Patel, Max Pulvers and Sean Ueda. Murdin is a redshirt freshman transfer from Cal Poly, while the rest of the class are true freshmen and recent high school graduates.
 
HEAD COACH JON PASCALE
Now in his 18th season at the helm of UC San Diego men's soccer, Jon Pascale has an all-time record of 151-100-50 (.502) with the Tritons at the start of 2025. Pascale is a three-time California Collegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year and led the Tritons to four Division II NCAA Championship berths from 2013 to 2019. His record in Division II was 130-61-40 (.649).

WHY THE TRITONS?
The Triton is described as the offspring of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a demigod of the sea with a lower part of the body like that of a fish. It is known as a mighty and fierce sea warrior. Thursday's match is the first of a three-match homestand for the Tritons. Utah Tech will visit La Jolla on Sept. 12, followed by Utah Valley on Sept. 15. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m. from Triton Soccer Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
