Nordgren enters his second season as an assistant coach for the UC San Diego baseball program in 2026.

Nordgren joined the Tritons after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at California Baptist (2023-24). During his time with the Lancers he recruited, oversaw the hitters and worked with infielders, catchers and outfielders. In 2024 the Lancers set a school record with 97 home runs.

Prior to his tenure in Riverside, Nordgren spent one season as Director of Baseball Operations at LSU (2022) and one season as the Director of Baseball Operations at the University of Arizona (2021) when the Wildcats won the Pac-12 championship and reached the College World Series. 

Nordgren spent one season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Point Loma Nazarene University (2020). He coached the Sea Lions’ catchers, infielders and hitters while also assisting in recruiting.

He began his coaching career in San Diego, at James Madison High School, where he spent two seasons (2018-19).

As a player, Nordgren found success as a third baseman at Point Loma Nazarene from 2010-14. Following his collegiate career, Nordgren played four seasons of independent baseball across the Pacific Association and the Can-Am League.

Nordgren, a San Diego native, graduated from Point Loma in 2013 with a BA in business administration and later earned an MBA in sports administration from Tiffin University. He is joined in San Diego with his wife, Jamie.
