Michael D’Arrigo joined the UC San Diego men’s soccer staff in 2021 as a volunteer assistant and was promoted to first assistant in 2024. With over a decade of coaching experience, D’Arrigo brings a strong background in goalkeeper development, youth coaching and collegiate competition.

He has coached at multiple levels, including Paradise Valley Community College, Miramar College, FC Tucson, Phoenix Rush, SDSC Surf, RSF Attack, Scripps Ranch SC, Matrix SC, Cathedral Catholic High School and SD Force FC — where he currently serves as Technical Director & Director of Goalkeeping. He also runs a private training business, working with over 250 players annually.

A four-year starter at the University of San Diego (NCAA Division I), D’Arrigo helped lead the Toreros to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2012 and ranks in the top 10 for several program records. He graduated in 2014 with a degree in business administration. Following college, he played professionally for the New England Revolution (MLS) and Arizona United, now Phoenix Rising (USL Championship).

His youth playing career includes appearances with the U.S. U18 Men’s National Team and a trip to the World Championships in Madrid, Spain. He also won two PDL division titles with FC Tucson. In high school, D'Arrigo was a First Team All-State selection all four years and was named Arizona Player of the Year in 2008.

At UC San Diego, D’Arrigo has coached multiple standout goalkeepers. Dominic Peters was an All-Big West selection in 2022 and earned several Big West Defensive Player of the Week awards. Mitchell Wilson also received a Big West Defensive Player of the Week award in 2023.

He holds a USSF “B” License, United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping License and is in progress of obtaining his USSF "A" License.

D'Arrigo and his wife live in San Diego with their two sons, Mateo (born 2022) and Sebastian (born 2024).
