With the Flyers threatening in the third, the Triton defense turned a double play to send it to the bottom inning early. On two outs and a 2-2 count,
Deena Pederson notched a single to become the lead runner. In the next at-bat, Pederson stole second to move into scoring position. Dayton's pitching staff earned the third out on a strikeout.
In the fifth inning, Dayton pulled further ahead with three more runs added to the board, upping the deficit to 5-0.
Adding one more run to their lead, the Flyers scored in the top of the seventh.
Lexi O'Gorman laced a single to left field on a 1-2 count, hoping to rally her team as the leadoff batter in the bottom of the inning. The following three Tritons popped up or struck out, leaving O'Gorman stranded to end the game.
