RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist (24-27) edged out the UC San Diego (14-28) with a 3-2 victory at Funk Stadium on Monday night.
The Tritons move to 14-27 overall and the Lancers are now 24-28.
Jaden Hill showcased her defensive skills with six assists, leading the team.
Alexis Jimenez delivered a strong performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Claire Adams pitched effectively, allowing just one earned run over six innings with four strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons faced off against California Baptist in a tightly contested game, with both teams showcasing strong defensive performances early on. Through the first four innings, neither team managed to score, with the Tritons being held hitless and California Baptist collecting three hits but unable to capitalize, leaving multiple runners on base.
The fifth inning saw California Baptist break the deadlock with a run, as the Lancers delivered an RBI single, giving them a 1-0 advantage. The Tritons responded in the seventh inning, orchestrating a rally to take the lead.
Morgan Eng was hit by a pitch and stole second, later scoring on a groundout by
Jaden Hill.

Reilly Erickson, putting the Tritons ahead 2-1.
However, California Baptist evened the score in their half of the seventh with an unearned run, due to a Triton error. The game remained tied until the ninth inning, when California Baptist's delivered a walk-off RBI single, securing a 3-2 victory for the host team. Despite the Tritons' late surge, California Baptist's consistent hitting throughout the game, totaling 12 hits, proved decisive in the final outcome.
